Mold & Water Damage Consulting
Mold & Water Damage Consulting for Environmentally Sensitive Clients (CIRS/EAI)
We specialize in assessing environments for clients with CIRS/EAI (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome/Environmentally-Acquired Illness) and other severe sensitivities. Our protocols are designed to identify the hidden biotoxin sources that standard inspections often miss.
Step 1
Understand The Situation
If possible, we interview the occupants to know any details that may be clues to identifying the problem. We will review past building reports and some types of medical testing. We also want to know if occupants may have health ailments that may make them more sensitive. Some of these health conditions include CIRS, Lyme’s Disease, MCAS, PANS/PANDAS, chemical sensitivities, autoimmune diseases, lowered immunity, among others.
Step 2
Physical Assessment
We physically asses the building for typically 2 to 5 hours using an array of devices such as moisture meters, infrared cameras, blower doors, and borescopes (camera that inserts into walls and other tight locations). We carefully scrutinize all accessible locations. We then determine the potential impact of each source we identified based on the sensitivity of the occupants and the potential for release of contaminants from the source.
Step 3
Analyze Samples
There are many types of samples we can collect that test for mold, mycotoxins, bacteria (such as actinomycetes), endotoxin, and MVOCS. Some samples we analyze on-site with a microscope or at our own in-office laboratory, while some samples are analyzed at external laboratories. However, we nearly only need to rely on our detailed physical assessment and microscopes (instant lab results on-site) that we bring with us to identify sources of water damage, locations of microbial growth, and the amount of spread into the building.
Step 4
Reporting and Education
Nearly always we know exactly what is occurring and how to address it by the end of our assessment. If possible, we immediately have an in-person discussion with the client to explain everything. A written report that describes our observations, sample results, and recommendations is provided usually within several business days. There are no additional fees for us making a comprehensive report. Clients then have access to our videos, side documents, and can email and call us as the situation is resolved.
